As Cleveland falls deeper and deeper in love with the woman, he works together with the tenants to protect his new fragile friend from the deadly creatures that reside in this fable and are determined to prevent her from returning home.

My Review: Right from the time I saw the first mammoth hoarding of this one on my way to work, I knew it from the start - this movie was gonna be different, it had something in it which was alluring. Maybe owing to the poster. But when I got to read the synopsis, I knew I was in the right direction. And later when actually reading a bad review of the movie, I was sure about it. Directed by M. Night Shyamalan who's also got a role in the movie, this flick actually had a dark and slow feel to it. The direction was really different although not out of the world, but yes, it did work wonderfully on the big screen. Original story with a few spine-chilling moments & flawless special effects coupled with spectacular acting from the cast, this is one movie which is going to be remembered for a long time to come!

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Title: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Genre: Action / Adventure / Sequel
Duration: 145 minutes
Release Date: 7th July, 2006
Date of Viewing: 22nd July, 2006
Venue: Theatre
U.S. Box Office: $ 321 million
Rating: 3/5

Synopsis: Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is caught up in another tangled web of supernatural intrigue. Although the curse of the Black Pearl has been lifted, an even more terrifying threat looms over its captain and scurvy crew: it turns out that Jack owes a blood debt to the legendary Davy Jones (Bill Nighy), Ruler of the Ocean Depths, who captains the ghostly Flying Dutchman, which no other ship can match in speed and stealth. Unless the ever-crafty Jack figures a cunning way out of this Faustian pact, he will be cursed to an afterlife of eternal servitude and damnation in the service of Jones. This startling development interrupts the wedding plans of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), who once again find themselves thrust into Jack's misadventures, leading to escalating confrontations with sea monsters, very unfriendly islanders, flamboyant soothsayer Tia Dalma (Naomi Harris) and even the mysterious appearance of Will's long-lost father, Bootstrap Bill (Stellan Skarsgard). Meanwhile, ruthless pirate hunter Lord Cutler Beckett (Tom Hollander) of the East India Trading Company sets his sights on retrieving the fabled "Dead Man's Chest." According to legend, whoever possesses the Dead Man's Chest gains control of Davy Jones, and Beckett intends to use this awesome power to destroy every last Pirate of the Caribbean once and for all. For times are changing on the high seas, with businessmen and bureaucrats becoming the true pirates - and freewheeling, fun-loving buccaneers like Jack and his crew threatened with extinction.

My Review: I had to watch this one owing to the publicity online AND offline which was very well done. The ads, the hype, the MSN game, the email forwards and much much more majorly responsible. The movie was actually quite good, a typical Disney box office flick, which sports amazing special effects, cinematography & makeup. Add to that Johnny Depp's fabulous role as Captain Jack Sparrow & Keira Knightley's hot appearance on screen. This is one of those movies which you'll enjoy watching but won't be remembering in the next few weeks!

Release Date: 28th June, 2006
Cast: Brandon Routh as Superman / Clark Kent; Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane; Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor; James Marsden as Richard White

When did I watch it? 9th July, 2006
Where? Theatre
What's the story? For five years, Superman has been away from Earth, coaxed into space by a belief that Krypton may still exist. Finding nothing, he comes back to a changed world - not only has terrorism become rampant, but Lois Lane has married, started a family, and won the Pulitzer for her piece "Why the World Doesn't Need Superman". After a stop in Smallville to see his adopted mother, Superman is back in Metropolis, and Clark Kent has his old job back at the Daily Planet, with everyone still incredibly oblivious to his alter ego. But where there's Superman, there's Lex Luthor, and he is likely to be planning something dastardly - in this case, using a piece of pilfered kryptonite to grow an entirely new continent that he will control.
Reasons to watch this flick: This movie boasts of state-of-the-art special effects coupled with a storyline that will raise the legendary superhero back to it's cult status which it originally deserves. And yes, it definitely goes without asking... but I'm still skeptical of the cult status, because the Indian audience didnt't find the movie WOW! I wonder why? Anyway forget about the others, its MY review here and I still say that the movie is kick-ass. Right from the spectacular special effects to the action sequences, this movie will captivate you emotionally as well. This is Brandon Routh's debut movie and his portrayal as Superman is fantastic. Adding to this the veteran roles of Kevin Spacey and the beautiful Kate Bosworth.
So how much do I rate it? 5/5
